Rise Above It

Every morning I wake up with the hope and intent to have a great day, or at least a good one.  But my days don’t always cooperate, and more often than I’d like to admit, good or great don’t even enter into the equation.

Despite my determined pursuit of a remarkable life, I still live in a world inhabited by sometimes selfish people whose actions infringe upon my happiness.  And of course, it’s not just the impact of annoying people.  Uninvited realities line up and crash through the door of our charmed and happy lives in the form of financial difficulties, medical concerns, and relationship struggles. In those moments, good or great seem miles and miles away.

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.” Albert Einstein

It’s amazing how quickly we can move from eagerly anticipating a good day, to depression and emotional turmoil. And emotional gravity is powerful.  It will pull us deeper into the arms of our unwanted circumstances if we don’t fight back.

The moment we find ourselves giving up on the day is the moment we need to seek out a new perspective, rise above the noise and the pain that distract us from the life we want.  Seek higher ground, hear new voices, find different perspectives, climb higher to see life from a different point of view.

And this is the time to remember, tomorrow the sun will rise, and once again we can choose to pursue the life we so desire.  Regardless of the pain of today, we can look forward with anticipation that tomorrow can be great.  Or at least good.
