I’m not sure there is a place on the planet one could go without someone knowing the name Oprah Winfrey.  She’s been called the most influential woman in the world, the queen of all media, she’s a self-made billionaire, and her story is an amazing tale of rags to riches.

Born into poverty in Mississippi, Oprah had a very difficult childhood.  She was molested by family members, got pregnant at 14, then lost the baby.  Her mother struggled to provide for her, so Oprah was shipped off to live with others people, taking her from Mississippi to Wisconsin and then Tennessee.  But she had her sights set on more.

Oprah decided in High School she wanted to be on television.  She began in local media and took a variety of on-air jobs in Nashville, Baltimore and Chicago.  While some wrote her off  early in her career, Oprah silenced the critics when The Oprah Winfrey Show became the #1 daytime talk show in the U.S.
