Happiness can be elusive, seemingly always just out of reach. We dream of better days and wonderful tomorrows, but don’t know how to get there from where we are.
I was sharing with a friend my desire to be more mindful and intentional in my thoughts and actions. She said, “If you are sad or filled with regret, you are stuck in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. Only by embracing this moment, the present, can you find peace and happiness.”
There is no need to wait for a better tomorrow, particularly since none is guaranteed. Instead, bloom wherever you are planted. Find the beauty in the moment, appreciate the present, be grateful for what you have, whatever it may be. The present moment is the only life you’ll ever have.
I finally realized this after a bad auto accident. Funny, I had to lose some things to gain my new-found perspective and attitude. Such is life.
