I like “familiar”. I like “comfortable”. “New” pushes me to places I don’t necessarily want to go, places outside my comfort zone. Intellectually I understand that growth comes when I try new things and attempt to develop new skills, but the gravity of the comfort zone keeps my feet rooted firmly in the familiar.
“Don’t live the same year 75 times and call it a life.” Robin Sharma
Many of life’s marvels are put just out of reach, well beyond easy, to ensure they are only experienced by those willing to pursue them with persistence. To take hold of the good things in life one is required to grow and stretch, to become more capable and more determined. And in the process, we realize that everything we desire is within reach.
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” T. S. Eliot
We miss the best life has to offer when we limit our vision to what we already know. Experiencing the best in life might simply mean being willing to try what we’ve never before tried.
“I’m always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” Pablo Picasso
