Looking for the Little Everyday Miracles That Can’t Be Taken Away

“We have been conditioned to believe in the big, the fast, the expensive and the far away.  I’m still convinced that if you have to move even ten inches from where you are now in order to be happy, you never will be.  Life becomes precious and more special to us when we look for the little everyday miracles and get excited again about the privilege of simply being human.”  Tim Hansel

Ten inches.  Not a significant distance at all.  It’s a bold statement to make: if you have to move even ten inches in order to be happy, you never will be…  Ten inches is within reach.  It’s so utterly attainable that it screams a point – your happiness has to come from within, not from anything you need to possess.

This is good news.  If you could find happiness by getting something, it would also mean you could lose happiness if something was taken away.  If your happiness comes from appreciating the everyday miracles in the world around you, from the gratitude you feel because someone loves you without condition, then your happiness can never be taken away from you by anyone.  It’s yours to keep.
