“Refuse to be average. Let your heart soar as high as it will.” A. W. Tozer
In the moment, particularly when life gets hard, “settling” becomes a very real temptation. To just give in, give up and call it a day, to let the days pass by without any particular effort to make anything special happen. The pull of mediocrity can be powerful.
No one starts the journey of life with dreams of mediocrity, hoping to live an average life. But when the life we imagined begins to feel out of reach, permanently, it is tempting to lower our expectations so we don’t have to face what we perceive to be failure in achieving our aspirations.
Life was meant to soar, with hope, with love, with meaning and purpose and eternity. As George Eliot said, “It is never too late to be who you might have been.” Don’t give up. Make something of the days you get to live.
“Know who you are. Know what you want. Know what you deserve. And don’t settle for less.” Tony Gaskins
You are absolutely right my friend. That stubbornness to dream and the will to work hard for it can get us to the height we dream about.
